Heckuva assumption about my level of involvement. I will readily admit that I don’t do as much the ground as I’d like, but I’m pretty proud of the orgs and candidates I donate to.
Thank you for running. Win or lose, you’re doing a service by giving people a choice.
Guys? I’m getting a bad feeling about this election. Maybe it’s the confirmation of Justice Dude-Bro and the resulting Republican polling bump. Maybe it was that climate report. Maybe it’s the rampant voter suppression in Georgia and elsewhere. But it’s starting to feel to me like the Blue Wave is going to be a…
And why is a sitting president still holding fucking rallies? Because he needs the ego boost.
I fought The Law, and The Law won. ::crushes case of inferior beer::
Who the fuck would think 1. Ranch is good on fries and 2. Be confident enough in that thought to believe it would dethrone KETCHUP!
So, my take is this: Pre-Kavanaugh, Dems were generally predicted to take the House but have a realllllllly long shot at the Senate. In the past few days, the generic ballot (not any single race; do you prefer a Democrat or Republican House?) has shown a 1 point tip toward the Republicans. I believe, thanks to…
I hear you so much. I’ve always told myself that the least, the very least, I can do (other than voting, which is obviously mandatory) is to bear witness. I’m definitely not on the frontlines of the fight here, but I can watch and pay attention and bear witness and feel all the horror and the anger and the frustration…
Actually, it appears to be slightly less than half full of horrible people. But many horrible people vote and many good people either cannot or do not vote. Also, gerrymandering is a hell of a drug.
I checked the polls yesterday, and it actually looks like Republican candidates are getting a bump off this. So, not only is Kavanaugh going to get confirmed anyway, but the Republicans finally found a culture-war issue that can drive their people to the polls. And it’s actually working!
Holy shit, that’s a good handle. Star for that alone.
That’s a reasonable point. But if he feels that the Senate cannot address these allegations in a fair and even-handed way, that is a fundamental failure.
[T]his Senate is not at all well prepared to handle allegations of sexual harassment and assault that might have come forward.
He appears to be in pretty good shape for the upcoming midterms by available polling. But if he votes for Kavanaugh, he will have a challenger to his left next time. Count on it.
Yup. The silence after Durbin’s questioning was the most damning. I wrote that comment right after I heard Feinstein, but it was a running theme.
Did anyone else notice that when Senator Feinstein asked him whether he would submit to an FBI investigation if he wanted to clear his name so badly, and his answer was ::turns up volume to 11:: “I WANTED TO TESTIFY THE NEXT DAY! THE NEXT DAY! AND YOU MADE ME WAIT! WHILE THIS CIRCUS DESTROYED MY FAMILY!”
Depends. Are you accusing a Republican of something?
Cross-examined is exactly right. I’m a lawyer. I know what cross-examination looks like. I’ve cross-examined many people myself. She’s being cross-examined like a hostile witness, and she is most definitely on trial.
These are really important points. It means she’s taking an especially huge risk in coming forward. I wonder if the Clearance-Yanker In Chief will get involved.
