I've been to Liberia 4 times in the last few years, and this is truly heartbreaking. They endured a 14-year civil war and are on the road to recovery...and now this. They are very strong people, and I would go back in a heartbeat if I could. So far, none of my friends have been infected but they are saying it's almost

That was another good one, classic vector graphics.

Thanks for this, I always enjoy reading about the people behind the tech that took untold allowance dollars from my pocket during the 70s & 80s. The Trak-Ball was pretty amazing back then and quite the unique controller.

I forgot about that, but you're right! Hahaha

The headline alone was irresistible to click, lols were had.

Right on, brother! I played STAR FIRE as well at age 11 in 1979 and it was amazing. Star Raiders was the first game I got for my Atari 800XL in 1984, been waiting for something like this for decades. We're finally close :D

This is great! I'd used the method you linked to, but did not know about this one. ANY little shortcut like this that makes things more efficient is always helpful, thanks.

I remember finding these on the floor in the theater in 1984, I think we were there to see Tron or something and the cleanup crew missed some of them. Sure wish I'd kept one, I sat reading it until my own movie began. Even then, thought it was pretty strange for a film to require extra reading before even seeing the

I think mine was 72637.xxx (can't remember the last 3), 300-baud at $6/hour in 1985. Ever play MegaWars? It was amazing to play against other people and be able to chat in-game. Us 300-baud dudes thought you 1200 guys must have been rich :D Didn't they jack up the price to $12/hour or something like that for the

Crikey, man. Those commands have been buried in my fuzzy memories since 1978, when a buddy of mine's dad came home with an original Apple ][. He learned how to code in machine language, it was amazing.

I did the same thing, the dev has created a truly great extension and updates it regularly.

This is great! Been a LH reader for years, and there have been some tremendous travel hacks that have really helped me when traveling to Africa. It'll be great to have these types of stories all in one place, thanks guys!

It truly is, I can't help but smile even 10 years later after first seeing it back in 2004. Must've been a blast to be there.

True! You could drag him around so he couldn't shoot anything accurately, haha.

Exodus: Ultima III on my Atari 800XL in 1983, took 8 months to beat the thing. Each Ultima game came with a cloth map, manual, spell book, and metal trinket. Really first-class stuff back then when game releases were big events. Lord British is still The Man™.

I remember that! A buddy of mine also had an original Apple ][ around 1978, and that game was available for it as well.

Spent hours playing the early Infocom games on my Atari 800XL, great fun! They were well-written and required you to fill in imagery with your imagination.

Space Duel was great fun to play with a friend as it was co-op and you could connect your ships, if I recall. Agreed about the sharp, colorful lines as well.

Exactly, haha. Yeaaaah, that glorious mullet I had in 1989 would definitely not be so glorious today. Seemed to impress the ladies at the time, or maybe they were just being nice.

Great story, thanks for sharing! I always loved playing the arcade version, and marveled at how some players were able to maneuver so accurately. Followed up with Lunar Lander, which had a sliding handle controller to help ease down to the surface without crashing into the Moon. What an amazing time that was for
