Epic thread, I'm new to Tasker and will be trying some of these out. That last one...RESPECT :)

Going to try this, it could fill a badly-needed niche. Thanks, Thorin!

Thanks for the tip!

Almost the same situation here. Mid-40s, was at one job almost 18 years and laid off of another one after 2 years when the company shut down. Seems like we're the last of the long-term job breed!

Oh, man. The first computer game I ever bought was "Ultima III" for my Atari 800XL, it took me 8 months to beat the thing. Spent countless hours playing the sequels after that as well. Lord British is the man!

Terrific tips, much appreciated! Having to update mine after 18 years, and things sure are different now.

Good advice, but can also backfire if you have a superior who takes credit for all of your hard work, unfortunately.

Lauryl and Laureth Sulfate sound like some of those newfangled names for girls.

Thanks for sharing, Walter! +1 for the MX518, I've never upgraded and won't do so until the thing literally falls apart.

YES, well said.

Interesting and unique idea, thanks for the tips!

Imagine if Morpheus had also freed ZeroCool and AcidBurn from the Matrix. Oh, the possibilities...

Are you 12?

Hilarious! I can almost picture the magpies mocking that poor dog :D

Great post, thanks for sharing. Completely agree, hearing a mysterious radio transmission and trying to locate its origin as a young'un fired the imagination. So much of the world's mystery has been lost.

Exactly! You had to have at least a little tech know-how to do things, and people were generally helpful and respectful. Even CompuServe at 300 baud in 1985 was great, they had some seriously fun multiplayer text games. What a ride.

Seriously. CompuServe at 300 baud back in the day...priceless.

Hahahaha awesome :D

SyFy's roundtable show "Sci-Fi Buzz" was always interesting, Harlan Ellison was a frequent guest if I remember correctly. They also did a live MST3K show, where viewers would submit quips on IRC and moderators would post the funniest ones onscreen while the movie was playing. Great times...

He read and understood it just fine. You just can't defend such tripe, which is why you're attacking him.
