I'm a first-generation TOS fan, so it's been quite amusing to see the entire gamut of Trek unfold. That said, I've had issues with JJ's vision of it, but most are minor nitpicks. My biggest one is the Big E. I hope it gets utterly obliterated in this film so that we get a new one that more closely resembles the

Laserblast! Oh man. Saw that in the theater as well, was maybe 8 or 9 at the time. Classic 70s sci-fi cheese, loved it.

Don't forget, the main character has to have a "mysterious past" that needs piecing together.

Hahaha that's awesome. I never looked at airport wind socks the same after that episode :D

Agreed! I first remember it from the early 70s, and it was awesome to imagine that thing dicing up planets and ingesting them for fuel. Not only that, but the episode was my first real exposure as a kid to obsessive madness (Commodore Decker). Classic stuff.

Great memories, thanks for posting this. Pretty fun to see how many of us remember this particular episode from when it was first run.

Agreed! The fact that I remember it from when it was first aired says something about how good it is. Great idea with the ringtone as well!

Thanks for the tip!

Yep, it sure was. I first signed up in the mid-80s at 300 baud, it was so slow that you could read the text as it downloaded. Still, what a great time to be online!

Yep, looks like we're in for some serious space carnage :D

I don't think that's the Enterprise, but rather a similar ship seen briefly in the previous trailer when Kirk launches out over the Moon for his spacejump.

You're adorable!

Almost the same situation here. Mid-40s, was at one job almost 18 years and laid off of another one after 2 years when the company shut down. Seems like we're the last of the long-term job breed!

Oh, man. The first computer game I ever bought was "Ultima III" for my Atari 800XL, it took me 8 months to beat the thing. Spent countless hours playing the sequels after that as well. Lord British is the man!

Agreed, I can't imagine what it must have been like during those missions.

Thanks for sharing, glad he made it out of there. I bet he had some flat-out, hair-raising stories.

Deal! :D

Well, hey, I sure will! And by golly, you just keep on being a Kool Aid-drinking sheep. Have YOU paid your fair share? Fork it over, I need some food stamps.

Shouldn't the commander in chief know how to pronounce "corpsman"? That's only one example. But hey, keep up the hero worship. He also said the US has 57 states. LOL

Listen to him speak without it, and you'll see a noticeable difference. He is incapable of speaking from true, personal conviction otherwise.
