Two years ago I drove the Stelvio Pass and the German autobahns in a rented Fiat 500L diesel. I chose poorly.
I’ve already made this leap. I pick up my low-mile 2008 Cadillac DTS Platinum next week. It’s for running the short distance to work and back. Already dropped $500 for a safety inspection and new fog light (front bumper has to be removed to replace it) so it has proper cheap-expensive car cred!

Depends what the walk is on the diesel. If Chevy keeps the price reasonable it could be enough to convince people. And I’m guessing with putting a diesel on a car that sells as well as Equinox they’ve figured it out.
The primary argument for optioning a diesel in a crossover or SUV is fuel efficiency. With gas prices as low as they are and the incremental cost of optioning the diesel over a gas variant, it wouldn’t make it worthwhile if you ran the numbers, unless you’re planning on keeping the truck for years to enjoy incremental…
