I have a 6-speed in my Miata and I hate the down and right location of reverse. Even though I’m sure it has a lock-out (never thought to check.), I always have this little voice in my head each time I go for sixth “I hope you’re not in reveeerrrrrse...!!”

I couldn’t agree more with your assessment of most people simply wanting reinforcement of their car buying decision versus actually wanting advice. It happened to me twice in the past two weeks.

That was a Rio taxi (yellow with a blue stripe). That may likely explain some of the bus driver’s rage.

As someone who frequents the streets of Toronto (and drove down that back straight a week ago) that ain’t nuthin’! Try running a race up Jarvis Street or along the Gardiner Expressway. It's definitely taken its toll on my Miata.
