When people talk about who has died for our freedom, I think about all of the people of color and working class organizers who were murdered for standing up. Not one death in Iraq or Afghanistan -as sad and tragic as they are - every did anything for my constitutional rights.

Infuriating, and yet somehow, the American way going back to 1782. We have never treated veterans well in the ways that matter.

To hell with tradition. The ONLY legitimate remaining purpose of having a monarch is if s/he exercises power. Maybe I liked the drama King Charles III too much, but Elizabeth should have just said no. Tradition is no excuse for insanity. Or, just get rid of the monarchy.
