It did touch on food deserts. The whole “Super size” me gimmick was, in each segment, a entry point into some problem with processed food in our society. Sure, it was no Eric Schlosser work, but it made a lot more points than “McDonalds is bad.” Just look at the whole segment on Sudexo.
