A year after getting my wisdom teeth removed, there are still small holes behind my molars — think of them as gaps or flaps between the tooth and the gums, where food is still getting stuck (rice grains mostly, or bits of ground meat). I've become good at swishing water at it vigorously (I'm a hit at dinner parties),

Astronomy buffs: This might be more appropriate for io9, but I'll try here: I am in the process of making a short sci-fi film set in deep space where a pulsar is in view. I am having a tough time finding accurate-ish depictions of what a pulsar might actually look like to the naked eye, since most of the animations

Take that Vegan-tarians!

I'm a little unclear on what you meant with movies and music. You don't buy them, but do you actually consume them, like via torrents and stuff? Do you feel then that the (reduced) enjoyment you get from those formats is worth zero dollars? Not even 1 dollar (not that that would be sustainable either), for lower

That's what Kickstarter is doing now, essentially. But media costs a LOT of time and money to produce... Donationware simply wouldn't sustain 90% of all mainstream media at the moment... Game of Thrones wouldn't be produced, 30 Rock wouldn't be produced, I doubt even low-budget hits like Paranormal Activity.

I need to keep track of my mileage and log what the trip was for after the fact (i.e. when I come home). Is there an iPhone app that will track where I go via GPS, and whenever I come home it reminds me to either log the recent trip with annotations (i.e. "meet with X Client, Los Angeles, 9 miles, 4/13/12) or to ditch

The title makes no specific mention that the reader themself is not vegan (though there's certainly an implication, just like I can make an uneducated guess that the majority of LH readers are indeed not vegan). Ironically, the first sentence of the article is much more implicatory of your accusation.

Fair enough. Although I forgot that M was in the first half so actually it's 14 (or 15) versus 6 (or 5).

I dunno, I'd say Luigi is the underdog.

Yeah but the alternate dimension version of you whose name starts with A drives a Ferrari.

Oh, also 13 of the top 20 richest people in the world have names in the first half of the alphabet, 85% more than those in the latter half (7). 14 if you count Carlos Slim Helu as one of them (he's mostly referred to as Slim, so I don't know how he had identified himself when younger).

Thank god someone had the balls to prove this study wrong by supplying 12, count 'em TWELVE exceptions!

Yeah I think I'm just a generally nonconfrontational person so I'd be too timid to pull this off. The most likely of odds favor nothing bad happening either way, I guess.

You know, lying about a nonexistent friend pushes this into douchebag territory for me. If the plane ended up being so empty anyway the guy could've clearly seen that your friend never showed up, and that you guys were willing to lie to him for no good reason.

You're right there's no promise, but I don't see how it would be obvious that you were trying to game the system. Plenty of reasons why you would've ended up in that seating configuration without trying to game it... you may have been the last people to book those seats, and that was the closest you and your partner

Yeah, Moore has explicitly stated that he has no real legal ground to stand on, that the contracts were a tangled mess that hid important info, but that's no excuse. He is pissed also because he claims the contracts gave him and Dave the rights back after the book goes out of print (back when graphic novels and trade

I just can't see a practical application for this, as cool as it is (I'm personally looking for a cheap motion control rig)... that motor looks too jittery and unless you were a one-man crew and needed to be elsewhere other than looking in the viewfinder you're better off manually pushing the camera yourself for

What are you actually sitting on? Cause from the view I'm just assuming he's hugging the rail with his buttcrack.

Man oh man I know there's a greater than 50% chance this movie is gonna suck (though if the entire movie is snarky one-liners I think it can hold on), but if there's a movie this year that I would find AWESOME to call my favorite movie of the year, it's this one.

I can see Device Central, Extension Manager, and Maybe OnLocation being hooked on... they're not apps as they are support modules. But they shouldn't be that big, file size wise, and Encore and Soundbooth should definitely be deletable.
