This type of behavior is so familiar to me. I’m white / female, btw, with mental illness. I was forced to stay overnight in a tiny psych ward with the guy who’d just recently raped me because they didn’t believe me when I told them who he was, screamed about it, cried, tried to leave.

It’s not his “impulse control” if he was planning these things in advance over and over. And how is doing what they did less understandable in any way than what he did? It’s all terrible, reprehensible behavior that went on for a long time.

Twists at the end don’t usually appear in descriptions or trailers, though. I really hate it when people spoil twists, even if the movie is 50 years old... ugh 😑 good thing I’ve already seen that one.

That’s what gets me - the people commenting that it was a “gangbang / orgy” about Ben “getting the guys off” - that says a lot more to me about the commenters and their attitudes toward sex than King’s intentions.

There’s a rape scene in a FICTIONAL STORY he wrote. That does not mean he “must be into some fucked-up shit”. Can people really not tell the difference between the writer and his work? He MAKES THINGS UP. It’s his job, you idiots.

He’s a fiction writer... seriously, wtf is wrong with people?? He has ideas. He writes them down. His stories are always fantastical. It really upsets me seeing so many people insulting him & acting like he’s some huge pervert because of this one part of one book. It’s not an instruction manual. It’s not telling…
