I have spent many years reading the history of and contemplating the Civil War. For me, Lincoln will always be the greatest president. He made mistakes, but he learned and evolved, and he overcame many personal tragedies and hardships (including chronic depression) to keep this country together, against truly

So, FEMA botched the preparedness and the response?

I love how his use of Russia as the exemplar of despotism is so fortuitously fitting for the current moment.

I am not a Know-Nothing. That is certain. How could I be? How can any one who abhors the oppression of negroes, be in favor of degrading classes of white people? Our progress in degeneracy appears to me to be pretty rapid. As a nation, we begin by declaring that “all men are created equal.” We now practically read it

Logan, in particular, was about facing mortality and reckoning with a life’s work and purpose. I don’t know what could be more human than that.

Comicvention is really terrible.
