If you deliberately fire a gun, the fact that you thought it was “just a warning shot” shouldn’t be mitigating, because the very idea of a warning shot is so profoundly stupid. If you fire a gun at someone, you’re probably going to kill them and you should be charged accordingly.

I don’t see how shooting someone with a gun can ever be a charge below murder. If you’re pulling the trigger, you’re obviously intending to kill them. Except in very clear cut cases of self defense, that’s murder!
