They need to fix that algorithm. Indie games don’t need to sell a Fton of units. They just need to find their niche. They won’t be able to if no one sees them, that’s for sure.

You can pretty much see how thin Gears was mechanically by looking at its boss encounters. If you can call them that.
The first Gears is basically just cover shooting. Maybe a bit of awesome face melting shotgun shooting. Rolling around. But damn was it so anemic if you think about it. Maybe it improved in the sequels. But it was near damn insulting to insist it’s more revolutionary than RE4 was.
