Jane the Virgin isn't hilarious. But it is charming and sweetly funny. And the diversity of characters is what really makes it.

Arquette's performance is the one that stayed with me. That might be because I'm a woman with kids and only a few years younger but that last scene in her apartment was like seeing my own life not long from now. "bold" is a great way to describe it - admitting the way women are used and then discarded once their

I chose to believe they were being ironic.

It's really that good.

I thought the last one was the best - that quitting scene with the old man (cringe at its best) and then him punching his boss while wearing that Irish sweater. Everything came together so well.

YES. You're the Worst. So good.

That whole office scene between Danny and Peter was great. Magic shows, penis, river monsters, deal breakers… Brilliant. And the 'Amen, sister', 'Poke a vagina','Bump - I'm out' exchange was superb.

Not the best episode. Something seemed off in the editing, especially at the beginning, and there was too much narration (as much as I love Latin Lover). Jane was still brilliant. And I liked the story lines, but it just didn't gel for some reason.

I remember when I had friends who got really involved with Landmark. It was awful trying to be supportive and interested while knowing they were being sucked into a cult and trying to avoid getting sucked in myself. But I didn't live with any of them. I can't imagine having to listen to the spiel day and night. You

Procrastinating madly, I started watching The Mindy Project onYouTube. What a great show. I don't think it's on any network channels I get (not in the US) so I'd never seen an episode and hadn't hunted it out before. Oh my, Messina.

It was a great 'real' scene. Sophia's reaction was all very normal and mature too. I thought that dinner scene was one of the best they've done.

Condolences to you and all your family. What wonderful words you have chosen to describe your love for your father-in-law here. We should all be so lucky to be loved and remembered in such a way. Take care.

After a frantic week at work, I caught up on last week's episode of Jane the Virgin which was probably the best one yet. What a fun, clever show with such a vast range of actors and great characters. Also watched Brooklyn Nine Nine. Yawn. This season is becoming a chore rather than a highlight. Other than two

I thought the film, which I'd heard such great things about, was pretty average/unremarkable up until that point. It definitely changed my opinion for the better.

It's timely given today's news, but the ending of The Graduate is the one that immediately came to mind.

Oh yes. Brendan Coyle as Nicholas Higgins is just wonderful. He gives such a smart, quiet performance with incredible warmth. He looks like a man who would give a great hug.

You know that's a different North and South, right?

This is true. Book is book.

Ciaran Hinds and Amanda Roots' Persuasion is the best ever. Just look at him in that photo. And he was a genuinely mature man coupled with an entirely age appropriate woman in this adaptation unlike some of the suspect casting choices in others.

North and South as an optional extra? Never!
"No one loves me. No one cares for me - but you, Mother". The greatest mother-son story as well as the best ending ever (putting aside the complete implausibility of that scene).
