Yes! I hadn't realised how long it had been since he reliably featured in good movies. 1987-1988 he starred in Roxanne, Planes, Trains and Automobiles, and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. Now we get banjo playing and It's Complicated. It's just not right.

I really enjoyed this. Still surprised to say that. I do wonder how it can sustain a series though. At the end of the pilot I found myself wishing it had just been twice as long and made into a really enjoyable movie. We need more fun and surprisingly good movies.

I loved this movie too as a 10 year old and was stunned to find out later that it wasn't a fabulously well-regarded classic. My sister and I used to watch it on endless repeat.

Good catch. "When my mom's feeling old she goes to this guy on 71st street. But she's old, she's like 38."

Black Tie is just my favorite 30 Rock episode. And "And surprisingly age appropriate" is one of my favorite 30 Rock lines. Fey's delivery of that line is just so perfectly arch and astute. Overall, I really enjoy Jack's age-related put-downs, while patting my cats and sobbing into my knitting: "50 is the new 40 for

Can Teti's mom do live blogging of all fall pilots? I'd read that. She has great snark. Her dismissal of the relevance of virginity as a topic in 2014 was great. I'm with others that podcast isn't my preferred media (mainly because of the time involved vs reading, plus I don't use headphones so have to remember to go

His enthusiasm for acting and film making is kind of sweet. I'd say it's been a while since Paula Abdul inspired such unbridled awe and admiration.

This was pretty good. Much better than last week. Still feels like they're treading water a bit though. Anyone else watch Scrotal Recall? That wedding was just a wonderful train wreck. Very much looking forward to next week's instalment.

I think Graham is highly talented. His ability to know when to sit back and when to take control is impressive. He clearly puts people at ease and does his homework. He'd be the first to admit he's an average interviewer but his job here is more like a great dinner host. I'm not sure it's just the multi-guest aspect

I saw Obvious Child (Jenny Slate). It was slight - short - and I thought because I knew the plot it had been spoiled for me, but the plot outline is the whole movie (it would be pretty hard to review it without describing exactly what it's about), and it didn't matter. I liked it. It wasn't perfect but I found the

The Unforgettable Fire is a great album. U2 throughout the 80s, before it became the Bono show, were extraordinary. I saw them in the late '80s and the buzz that surrounded them then was amazing. Pride (in the name of love) still gets me cranking up the stereo. Doesn't stop me making fun of Bono now though.

I would mock your palpable sense of urgency to discuss an 8 year old TV episode, but I'm no better. It's Black Tie, dammit! One of the best episodes 30 Rock ever made. And surprisingly age appropriate. Bring on the review. The whole thing makes me want to vomit.

I went and saw this movie on a date. Nothing like Kevin Costner in tights, insufferable acting and a horrific rape scene to really set the mood. Somewhat unfairly I attributed this lacklustre night to my date and declined to go out with him again. I still cringe thinking of the phone call when I turned him down - and

I don't think I've seen the Peralta - Holt dynamic so obviously played like the JD - Dr Cox relationship before tonight. Some of those lines between them could have been straight from Scrubs. Nothing wrong with that. If B99 just cherry picks all the best elements of good comedy shows of the past few years (Scrubs, 30

I wished Confident Boyle had stayed around a bit longer. That swagger in those surprisingly low-cut jeans was great fun.

Mourning the end of You're the Worst - just waiting for the renewal…
Finally watched The Comeback. Had been meaning to for a while but the news it is returning sealed the deal. I liked it. Didn't love it but it was good fun and Paulie G must be one of the greatest/most appalling characters on tv in the past decade.

"You goddamn floor me." "God I love the way you think."
That was a great season finale to cap a great season. These people are so broken, and yet Gretchen and Jimmy aren't the most broken. Their hurdles look minor compared with those of Lindsey, Edgar and the awful sister and her husband. I love how Paul, with his

I saw Happy Christmas (Anna Kendrick, Melanie Lynskey, Lena Dunham). Any one seen it? Lynskey is great. Reminded me of her role in Away we go. I loved the discussions about parenthood, and the kid in it is unbelievably cute. It's the kind of movie I won't remember I saw in a couple of months, and the ending sort of

Celestial Navigation is a beautifully written book. As are most of Tyler's, but particularly the earlier ones - this, Breathing Lessons, and Saint Maybe are ones I often return to. She has a way of making the quiet lives of very ordinary people utterly compelling, whilst retaining the humor and inconsequence of
