Yep! I have a former street dog from Thailand who was rescued from the dog meat trade. He’s been through a lot of shit to say the least, and he’s got a lot of anxiety issues which meant there was a long period after I first got him where he was prone to biting. I think it’s pretty common sense why a dog who has PTSD…
Yeah, he’s incredibly controversial for his “pack leader” stuff but the tasing is when I lost all respect for Nat Geo for keeping him on air. It’s completely indefensible.
I’d not seen the guy when someone told me to watch him, and then went on to advise a shock collar (my dog was a naughty puppy - mainly because he’s very clever, willful, and was mistreated by his previous owner, which means you need to be clear about what’s acceptable and bribe the shit out of him) he’d recommended.
He uses and advocates that others use choke collars. Same with tasing dogs. His entire philosophy is based on intimidating dogs to make them think of you as the “alpha.” This isn’t a smear, it’s exactly what he’s famous for.
Actually, it’s his literal number one piece of advice on walking a dog:
Ugggh yes. I have a male friend who is very into this whole macho training philosophy and is always trying to convince me to let him ‘fix’ my dog. Cesar Milan and mansplaining douches really go hand-in-hand.
And that is the type of shit that makes people give up their dogs. They think, “Well if the Dog Whisperers techniques don’t work then this dog is hopeless.” I just don’t believe there is such a thing as a bad dog, just bad owners.
The clicker is the method that my former boss uses! She trains dogs for movies, commercials and TV. The clicker is really fantastic for potty training, as well.
As a female dog owner I gotta say I get tired of the unsolicited dog advise from men. Theres this unspoken assumption that as a woman you don't know what the fuck you're doing and need a man to break it down for you. It sucks. My dog is ehem, full figured, and I get dudes telling me what to feed him all the time and…
I’m aware. That’s why I have a well-trained dog and don’t intimidate or choke the shit out of him so I can feel like a “pack leader” walking first.
Imagine all the suffering he has caused between owners and dogs because of this domination bullshit. What a fucking asshole.
Positive reinforcement training methods are the way to go and achieve better results without terrifying and intimidating the animals. This guy is a charlatan and a bully.
Cesar Milan, snake oil salesman extraordinaire.
I have zero faith in Cesar Millan’s dog training techniques but the real reason I hate his face is because once some bro on a bike came up to me at a stoplight and said of my dog (sitting on the curb, waiting for the light to change as he’d been trained to do), “that’s a pretty good dog but you should really make him…
How many times do people need to be told that the inherent implication behind black lives matter IS all lives matter?!?!
The head of Google’s self-driving car division made headlines recently for asking federal regulators to allow a…
Even if the population of intelligent people was greater it wouldn't mean that the world would be a better place. An intelligent person isn't more inclined to be altruistic. There are plenty of intelligent people who are petty and biased little turds out to get what they want at the expense of others.
You(and the movie) are making the assumption that smart people have smart children and dumb people have dumb children. While I'm sure the intelligence of the parents does have an effect on a child's overall development it still is entirely possible for two idiots to produce a genus and vice versa, eugenics would not…
