Normally I’d be all over a low mileage little wagon with a stick and 170 HP for little more than nice beater $$$$. Mini’s rep for unreliability and high running costs (whether it’s true or not, the perception is there) kills it for me.

To me the videos are proof that comprehensive state inspections are a good thing. None of the cars in those videos have Massachusetts plates and there is a reason. If I have a wheel bearing with even a little bit of wobble it’ll get an reject. Check engine light anytime in the last 100 miles? Reject. extensive rust on

I always thought that the Capri name would be perfect for a slightly smaller 2 seater using the mustang ecoboost platform. Would be a heck of a brz/gt86 fighter, and we could enjoy the ecoboost drivetrain without the stigma of ‘should have gotten the V8'.

Because Ford Dealers. Its not worth the hassle of dealing with dealers who are pricing Mavericks at F-150 levels. Makes it unappealing.

Haul old people with stuff. I think this was one of 30 people who needed this thing...

I’d say you’re fortunate to have a job that lends itself to being 100% remote. Those jobs still exist and there are more of them now than there used to be. There’s still very much a need for a central location for most jobs, though. Not all the time. Not 5 days a week. But often enough that offices aren’t going away.

Naturally. The reason: Commercial Real Estate, aka the next big bubble to burst. These corporations spent millions on new facilities they likely received massive tax breaks on under the guise that the company would drive revenue for local businesses. A lot of these executives are members of planning boards explicitly

The wheel choice doesn’t work - classic Ford.

You know what? I have no problem with this.

public transit (esp. light rail) works in urban centers where city planning was a priority. in many of today’s midsize (or larger) cities, social constraints took priority in the recent decades & worked to separate communities in various (unsociable) ways. that makes building new rail lines & transit centers extremely

It’s hilarious that both sides of the US political spectrum would freak out at UK-style MOT inspections:

You can’t legislate technology into existence. What happens when the sensor gets dirty? Can it measure temperature, gas composition, velocity? What stops the presumed impaired driver from using a can of duster gas or a battery powered fan to blow cabin air across it? How does it handle the whole inside of the car

Ford GT!!!!!!!

Either a Mercedes E63S AMG Wagon:

S212 E63 Wagon in Pearl White.

Of course it has to be the E63S AMG wagon. And, yes, I know about the RS6 Avant. I don’t like it.

I bought mine. Special ordered for European Delivery. Drove it all around Germany and Scandinavia for 2.5 weeks. Still have it, still love it. Plan to be buried in it. It’s pretty much the perfect car that can do absolutely everything well, from bringing a gas grill home from Lowe’s to screaming around a race track to

Mercedes-Benz E 63 S Wagon

Presuming I don’t have to pay for maintenance costs, G31 Alpina D5 Touring. Triple turbo diesel wagon goodness in what I would argue is the best-looking 5 series this side of the E39.

Here’s an idea: Decline to buy cars which lack steering wheels.
