Exactly. I barely register new CUVs as anything beyond ‘obstacle’. If I’m really paying attention I might be able to remember the colour five minutes later. Zero chance I’d notice a mis-badged one even if someone pointed right at the badge.

This was my thought as well. I mean, I’m aware that Hyundai has some SUVs named Santa Fe and Tucson but I couldn’t describe either of them to you.
Aye, I couldn’t tell you the difference between those two and the 5 million other anonymous lifted SUV’s on the road anymore. They are for the most part generic and unexciting. Hyper alert gearhead enthusiasts don’t get their interests up over this sort of thing.
So I’ll preface by saying I’m not an Academy member. I’m a filmmaker, but not terribly connected to the industry, since I mainly do documentaries. I’m no expert. This is more my opinion as to why the Oscar ratings are tanking.
SoCal res here. Every person I know that has moved from California to Texas in the last five years has moved for one of two reasons. Their company moved, like Toyota, or they were Right-wingers/Trumpers that thought California was too liberal.
Full 4 Door pick-ups as non-commercial vehicles.
It’s not just one vehicle, but it’s a class of vehicles. I’m talking about lifted JEEPS and pickup trucks. Simply no need at all.
I couldn’t give less of a shit what the law says. If I find a device on my car, and I don’t know what it is, and don’t know where it came from, and don’t want it on my car, I’m removing it and throwing it in the trash.
The ones that don’t double as turn signals... Are you hazards on, are you pumping your brakes, do you have an intermittent grounding issue?
This would be a lot more fun with pictures
This is a mixed bag, as some companies have used old names well, while others have not, at least in the opinion of their fans. I won’t reiterate the other comments, but add what I think is a poor example of re-using a model name:
We’re a Brand society working with consumerism and Capitalism.
How do we know what to buy?
The Marketeers associate and then produce aspects of a Brand.
We get used to that, we buy it, we like it, we keep buying that Brand.
The Marketeers further enhance the Brand, and if we like it, we keep buying it.
When the Makers shut…
What’s the thing that you suspect people would absolutely give you tons of shit for? That people would argue with?
Counter-take: American families carry around way too much crap. The rest of the planet seems to get along just fine with a Ford Focus for a family of four.
The police can pull you over for ANYTHING. In fact, they can pull you over for driving too well.
...replace a bad track...
Wait what? Austin is the coolest of the new tracks.
Lifted trucks should be illegal on the road.
Buy the damn minivan!
It should be AT LEAST as expensive and difficult to get a driver’s license in the US as it is in Germany. Real driver training or you can just stay home, walk, or take a bus. And I don’t give a shit about the poors. They are fucked anyway.
