I’m not even conservative and even I know this is the wrong move. People buy a ponycar instead of a supercar because of the engine. If I’m buying a Mustang, I want a nice, naturally aspirated V8 up front. They’d be better off just killing the model at that point, and introducing something else that pairs off better to

Look at moneybags over here with his “memory seats”. you think you’re fancy Kristen or something?

I spend the next 3 months trying to get the seat back in the right position.

I luv the 510 wagon. But I absolutely would not have painted the pillars. Robs a little of the car’s classic soul, IMHO.

But it looks like you tinted the windows to match.

A valid point, but the whole goal of the 1995 redesign seems to have been to modernize the car closer to contemporary standards, so this is all based on that perceived goal.

Mustang with a manual isn’t going anywhere

That last sentence is spot on. My Fiesta ST in traffic? A nice little car. My Fiesta ST on a canyon road? Magic.

“No i meant *i* am going for a drive, without you

..and maybe that’s why you’re still in a relationship and i’m not,haha

Great piece, thank you. I learned the joy and restorative powers of the Aimless Drive from my parents when I was younger than I can remember. My earliest memories include long rides in the car, first our 65 Cadillac Sedan deVille (the first car I ever traveled over 100mph in), later in our 76 Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser

Sometimes I go on my own (like today) but sometimes I call up a buddy and we just wander up in the mountains for a few hours. Great therapy.

I agree, it’s lovely. The other day I left work two hours early (perks of being self-employed) and went on a drive to my favorite local mountain road and just had a great time. I had my phone on silent so I wasn’t bothered by friends or customers, and I just drove. The sound of a naturally-aspirated straight six

I was a car nut when I was a little kid. My favorite toys were Matchbox cars. When we’d go to the grocery store I’d make a bee-line to the magazine counter and absorb as much of Road & Track and Car & Driver as I could.

Lmao, I’m sure a single mom of 3 whose dirt poor and needs a car has $10k cash lying around to buy a car.

Interesting, but if you’re considering a Mirage you’re probably not considering a bike for “I’m buying this because I’m broke with no credit and still have to go to work and take the kids to school” reasons.

Not to mention dealer support.  Chevy dealers will be around for a while.  Not sure about Mitsubishi.

These are city cars. If you’re using them to drive about in the mountains, you’re doing it wrong.

One time, back when I was a cop, I stopped this crime ring that was boosting DVD players and car stereos. Long story short, I wound up JOINING the group family and traveling the world committing/stopping crimes. Then I had a kid and they stopped inviting me to the jobs. Kids ruin everything.
