Ran into something like this earlier this weak when I brought up that we need to start considering the economics of a fully automated future. And since I work in industrial automation, I got the “Well why don’t you quit if you’re so woried about it?” comments. My only response was “Because I have to fucking eat.”

Also, there has been a diffusion of responsibility that has deeply contributed to the situation. Individual efforts to curb consumption will never be able to counteract the effects of industrial waste.

Nah, it’s just you and your weird trolling on this post.

she has the most amazing mask ive ever seen!!! my gal says hi

My pit bull type dog wants to know why we can’t just buy her a seat on the plane. She wears a seat belt in the car so buckling up won’t be an issue. I’ll give her the window seat so she won’t have to sit next to you.

was 4th marriage for Mickey ... damn busy little rodent couldn’t keep his shorts on

A movie about the folklore sounds much cooler than a movie about the meme. We’ve had plenty of “teenagers dying because of something on the internet” movies. And I could have sword Emma Roberts already starred in a movie about strangers on the internet giving you dangerous challenges.

Also, what happened with Lorena Bobbitt is likely more complicated than what they think.

I’m currently in London now and I keep hoping to see a big blue police box and a bunch of people yelling at me to run.

if he were 93, he’d ask “to fuck Daniel Craig,” adding, “presumably just..... very slowly.”

From what I understand, she was physically and mentally abused long before she mutilated her husband. She did that as a lashing out and frankly, I’m okay with that. If society has trouble with accepting abuse accusations now, they had to be unbearable conditions for accusers 30 years ago.

I was a child when it happened and it was always my understanding that he fully deserved it. Lorena Bobbitt is my hero.

I feel like we’re one step away from a tp commercial that is just

You don’t need to take Iodine to go to Chernobyl. The I-131 that was released decayed long ago, 8 day half life.

The answers are pretty much correct, but there is one correction. The problem is not that the radiation is contagious by itself. The problem is the radioactive dust. A person may inhale the radioactive dust and thus become “radioactive”. Later that person can sneeze, cough or spit the radioactive dust and someone else

I'm not a doctor, but I would think that those precautions were to protect her from infection while her immune system was depleted, not to protect other people from her.

I could be wrong, but I thought that thyroid cancer can be treated with radioactive iodine in a pill or liquid form, so in that case the radiation isn’t topical (for lack of a better word) in a way that can be washed off.

I’m gonna butcher this and would welcome a more elegant answer, but...

The article (and my experiences around chemo and radiation patients) implies that it’s more for the patient’s protection because radiation and chemo will compromise their immune system.

I don’t know about the thyroid cancer treatment aspect, but for someone who’s been externally exposed to radiation (like the Chernobyl firemen), if they’ve been stripped of their clothes and scrubbed down, they can’t spread radiation to other people (or if they do it’s a tiny amount). The plastic sheeting, etc., is to
