Lately I’ve been finding that much of the music I’ve long had a connection to now makes me sad to revisit. It seems a lot easier to develop melancholic associations with things as I age, even new things.

Gaiman is certainly prolific with these tributes and dedications. Nice guy.

There’s something special about how direct and concise this film is. It’s full of really singular images and characters and sounds.

    Unpossible.

I agree that it’s nonsensical and generally not very good.

Bets on how long until the title is changed to The Cloverfield Contagion?

Venom is the Thomas Haden Church story?

Michael Anthony would beg to differ (it seems).

A ‘making of the Holiday Special’ dramatization could be a trip. Sebastian Stan just took part in something similar with I, Tonya and he has been bandied about as a Luke-alike (sorry, but at least I didn’t type Luuke-alike) so he’s prequalified.

You make a good point. Dune is at its heart a simple, fairly contained story. The unwieldy part is largely how much of a psychological/philosophical story it is, and how difficult that is to translate from the page to the screen. But as you say, Villeneuve is a master at doing just that.

This does concern me from a Dune standpoint. Dune can certainly be more accessible and ‘crowd pleasing’ than Blade Runner, and I’d love to see Villeneuve pull that off, but Dune probably does need to be a monster to really exist.

From what I recall of Villeneuve’s non-Blade Runner films, he is good at leaving me wanting more as well. Or at least ending on a ‘wow-and cut’ note in something like Sicario.

Now, I just want to see a GoT-style opening map sequence with planets across a starmap instead.

The Rick Rubin thing intrigues me. If he could somehow pull a Johnny Cash with the Pumpkins, I’d buy that.

I happen to really enjoy almost all of Mellon Collie. There’s something about the rhythm and flow of it that turns even the lesser tracks into rewarding mood segments. The whole dawn-to-dusk thing really works for me.

Yeah, the voice is the thing that concerns me the most, having watched this.

It is just a brief teaser here, and VFX shots are easier to make an impression with in such a short running time.

He doesn’t care at the start of A New Hope, regardless of what this film says, but we’ll probably learn why he doesn’t care.

It’s definitely noticeable that they’re carrying fewer CDs right now than they used to even a couple of years ago. As a nostalgic sap, that saddened me the last time I was in a Best Buy.

Nintendo certainly isn’t going to give any studio kart blanche with Mario.
