I probably saw every episode a few times because it was on between Simpsons reruns after school. Looking back it was a pretty creative show.

Scott Walker comes to mind as someone still relevant until his death, and that was from going deeper into weirdness mid-career instead of trying to chase mainstream success.
It’s weird because his sitcom was one of the best television comedies of all time, and I often see it said that it’s because of Larry David and the other writers and Jerry doesn’t deserve all of the credit... And I often see it said that he’s the worst actor of the main four... But he is really funny playing “Jerry…

Red Rocket is fantastic, I wish it got more attention
People say he looks like Matt Damon and I can see it but I really get Phillip Seymour Hoffman vibes from him
Sorry, I forgot you consider my comments to be a reliable source of hard facts.
I’m hoping the status quo is Paste working to reboot the site eventually but who knows. In addition to paying writers for decent content again Kinja and the ad onslaught that makes the site impossible to view without blockers would both need to go .
Anya Taylor-Joy is a talented actor but also very off-putting and almost inhuman. Charlize Theron is much more inherently likeable and I wonder how a Furiosa movie starring her (and maybe a sequel instead of prequel) would have done.
I can’t say this with authority but it seems like the first is a reaction to the oil crisis of the 70s with gas lines and rationing as well as the inflation, unemployment and recession that hit Australia as hard as the USA. I don’t think you needed to explain to audiences at the time how that world got that way, it…
I’ll watch it for Jeremy Strong as Roy Cohn because that sounds fantastic.
TV writing is very cliquish and “who you know”, so if he gets pushed out of that circle he legitimately may never work as a TV writer again. I mean that could have happened anyway and there’s no guarantee he would have kept working but if Knoxville is telling people not to hire him there may be a case.
How Kinja keeps people in “the greys” for years because there’s no clear path to getting approved is also beyond me.
Stay tuned for next years’ 1980s-set prequel series, Young Darlene
The first may have been underperformed in theaters in 1982 but I’m sure it’s made plenty of money since. There’s a huge following even if 2049 wasn’t as successful as they hoped. Streaming series play by different rules anyway.
I have the feeling that even the makers of the movie don’t care about the original series. The studio probably spun the “what do we already own that we could remake” wheel and this one came up, then the hired talent did the best they could with their assignment.
Funny thing to me is the Jerry Seinfeld I know and love from the show would never date an 18 year old. Not because he thought it was morally wrong necessarily but because he’s so hyper-aware of the rules of society I don’t think he could go through with it.
I doubt they’d do it this way but they have enough of a following that they could put something out themselves.
That doesn’t mean she can pull off a credible British accent.
It’s possible these projects don’t begin as “FX on Hulu” streaming only but that’s what happens when they realize they’re not good enough to air on the network.
