The AV Club went from having a staff to hiring freelancers presumably for very little money per article. I don’t think the current writers lack talent but I also don’t think they’re able to put in the time and effort we used to see.

His voice is lean and unsentimental
SNL has now and has had in the past a lot of great writers but the show isn’t set up to support great writing.
There are a few restaurants around me that are curbside takeout and delivery only and have no customer area at all... One in particular used to run a food truck but this seems to work better for them.
Chipotle’s advantage over local places is you put in your lunch order and it’s on the shelf ready to pick up every time. I’ll only eat there when I’m working in the office and can’t do the “will the local place take 5 or 30 minutes” game.
I was wondering the same. “The last Blockbuster” is worth a ten minute Youtube video. Setting it in the 90s or 00s when it was thriving is where the nostalgia is.
I think it’s pretty likely some Marvel or DC executive at some point in the last 15-20 years has at the very least brought up hiring Tarantino in a meeting. Maybe he was never “officially” offered a movie, maybe feelers were put out and shot down or whatever but it had to have happened, it just seems so obvious.
Not sure it’s fair to compare Walk Hard to Spinal Tap anyway. Walk Hard is a parody of predictable musician biopics so it follows all of the familiar beats. Spinal Tap is a lot more loose, mostly improvised and doesn’t have one specific target.
There are a lot of people queer, straight or bi who don’t “figure things out” until well into their twenties if not later. Maybe they need to date and experiment and experience or maybe they need find a serious relationship with a partner to really know or maybe they need to exorcise all the conservative BS they were…
We’re not an entirely digital world yet. Printing still matters.
Photoshop has a lot of excellent alternatives for free or a one-time lower price but a lot of the other Adobe products don’t. I think a lot of the pirating is probably for Premiere, After Effects and Illustrator as much as Photoshop.
It’s ridiculous and often stupid but it’s not boring and there’s always something cool or odd to look at. I’d rather watch a movie like that instead of some formulaic biopic or Oscar bait .
“Don’t buy the game” is fine. I won’t. But don’t guilt me into being charitable too!
You could easily make two $1.69 tacos cost $14 each by clicking all of the upgrades. There’s probably some way to make a single menu item cost $28 by clicking all of the boxes and upgrades.
Countless actresses should be thankful for what they have and keep quiet, right? How dare they talk shop about the problematic aspects of their industry.
Wasn’t that supposed to be semi-autobiographical about her marriage to Spike Jonze? I think they were a little older, still in their 20s though, and movies always want to make people younger
I think you need separate “best chili with meat” and “best vegetarian chili” lists. Vegetarian won’t ever win on a meat list but it would be good to know what the better brands are.
I would bet nobody involved wants to but there are contracts that would be too difficult or expensive to break.
I didn’t say that.. I don’t believe TJs is the most popular store in CA at all unless popular means “well liked” instead of measuring traffic. Trader Joes has loyal fans and Ralphs is tolerated at best.
It’s generally an okay-ish selection in Southern California Trader Joes though most stuff is packaged which may be a turn off. The biggest sin is it expires really quickly. Usually even before the “sell by” date. I think TJs may take longer than grocery stores to get things on the shelves and you really feel it.
