It’s a common phrase though. I remember a lot of “We Need To Talk About Apu” thinkpieces and so on, it’s used as a headline or caption in a lot of articles and opinion pieces about subjects who emerge as problematic.

I felt the same about Molly Shannon at one point then White Lotus and The Other Two made me adore her again. I may have even felt the same about Jason Sudekis pre-Ted Lasso. Wiig seems overdue for a good role.

There were a lot of allegations against Cosby in the early 2000s and they were big news at the time. The public did know, but the story just kind of faded because social media wasn’t as entrenched or influential as in the 2010s on and if something fell from regular news coverage it was out of sight, out of mind.

They’re like an Electroclash nostalgia act, a genre that itself was super-campy retro-80s synthpop. I think there’s just always going to be bands around doing this stuff because it’s not difficult to make catchy music in this vein, the costumes are fun and flashy and late 70s/early 80s new wave is an evergreen style

What if there’s a third alternate universe where both Ana de Armas AND The Beatles both exist in the Yesterday cinematic universe?

I think Netflix really shot themselves in the foot with the dump-a season-all-at-once model. Even when their shows are good they don’t seem to occupy any pop culture space for longer than the week or two everyone is binging (with maybe the exception of maybe Squid Game or the Marvel shows way back when). They’re losing $10 a month from me and I wouldn’t have even considered dropping them if raising their rates didn’t make me question why I was still subscribed.

The problem is Gen Z & Millennials just file Gen X under “Boomer” even though they are worlds apart.

I didn’t even recognize her in the picture above! She seems to make a point of always smiling when photographed which means she’s either a genuinely happy person, which is awesome, or she’s hyper-aware of her image, in which case watch out.

Jost obviously bought the ferry to preserve his family’s namesake.

I feel like if you try to order one at the Carrollton or Irving locations that will put you on some sort of anti-beef seditionists list in Texas.

The really novel thing about Knives Out was it was a movie older generations could enjoy (Boomer moms love their mysteries) but it wasn’t yet another Agatha Christie adaptation— I like them, but even the recent ones can feel tired and creaky.

That is a nearly 24 year old Simpsons reference, soooo...

What do you want “Americans” to do?

Sopranos did it first.

Whedon is probably done in the comic book world with its hyper-observant and vocal fan base, at least for the foreseeable future. But he’s extremely connected and could easily move into something where the creator is more low profile like procedurals or 70s/80s TV reboots.

Writers also tend to have been the outsiders wishing they were part of the hyper edgy sex drug fueled nihilism going on at parties when they were teens instead of actually experiencing it themselves.

Showtime put the first episode on Youtube to watch for free, if that helps recruit:

She had a too-short, underdeveloped but still very memorable guest spot on The Shield that had a lot in common with this character.

I don’t really know how much range Juliette Lewis has as an actor. I love her and she’s absolutely perfect in this role but I wonder how much more you could expect from her.
