I’m originally from rural Midwest and I can tell you there were a number of my rural family members posting on Facebook how they either “didn’t get” or “didn’t like” the halftime show. One even apparently was given a “headache” watching it.

This is exactly the point I was going to make. I remember being 13 years old and chuckling at half of Miller’s Weekend Update jokes (usually while he was also chuckling or cackling at his own esoteric references). The other half were way too arcane for me to get :-)

His three-record run of Odelay, Mutations, and Midnite Vultures are still my favorites of his. I’ve always had a soft spot for Mutations. Once he started getting bummed out about life is when my interest started to wane (though I really like Sea Change).

Also a great season, which I just finished recently.
