I wonder how he thinks his precious console games get developer on. Or tested on, or shown off on. Or that a $500 PC can stomp all over a PS4/XB1 in terms of graphics (And stomp on them even more if you want to get even quality.)

I often wonder why some of you people get these problems (no offense). Is it because you don't know how to maintain/setup a PC? Because you overbloat your PC with software/malware?
This can't be overstated: Setting up and managing your own mail system is hard.
Another aspect is how secure the appliance is, if it's internet facing, chances are it will get hacked. Now ask yourself, do you truly have the security chops to secure your data while providing all of the "near" convenience of service provider in the name of privacy.
Assuming that you just have one single computer acting as a server, I don't think it's that expensive. My computer's on all day every day already (stackexhange has this answer from a looooong time ago too http://superuser.com/questions/3204…)
