Small thing, but it's really helpful to include the final score in articles like this one.

I think this is the more important point to make here. The traditional and prevailing school of thought for hitting is obviously to always wait for your pitch (a la Ted Williams) but Vlad proves the opposite approach can be effective, but only if you're an absolute freak of nature.

"Nobody knows anything about the balls."

I will always agree with Deadspin's stance on dick humor. Always.

Appreciate that.

Thanks, Tim. I truly appreciate the clarification. Still not sure where I come down on this, but I've enjoyed the back and forth with everyone.

Thanks for the measured response.

This makes sense, and I think that's an important clarification on terminology. But my problem is, even though they were acting within the provided guidelines, it's hard to completely defend them. My argument is that it just seems that sticking a needle in your ass to try and make yourself instantly better at your job

I understand that and I agree, but I have trouble drawing the parallels between brutally inequitable sentencing laws and a major corporation attempting to maintain the (facade of?) integrity of its product.

I can understand that, and I agree with the pre-integration argument, but I think in this specific instance it seems a bit odd to just act like because some historical wrongs existed, uncorrected, in baseball history, then none of the new concerns are really valid at all.

I don't have an antiquated perspective on morality, and I don't think that perspective really came across in my original post. I don't think steroids in baseball are the end of days, and I get tired of the sport being held on a different moral plane than all others just like a lot of folks on this site. I just don't

This is great, so true. It can be infuriating at times but yet here I am, slurping up whatever they dish out on a daily basis.

So if I'm reading this correctly, it's really not about the players at all, but more about the media's sanctimonious and high-horsed reactions to the wrongdoing?

OK, I can get that, but Deadspin also has prided itself on leading the charge against relentlessly dangerous aspects of other sports (headshots in football, fighting in hockey, etc.) because while entertaining in some sick way, they also shorten and cheapen the lives of participants.

This actually makes a lot of sense. Thank you.

I seriously, genuinely do not understand why Deadspin thinks steroids in baseball is just no big deal at all. It seems to be a consensus opinion across the writers on the site.

When I was a freshman in college, during my first week of classes I brought my brand-new laptop to my school's library and sat in the crowded first floor in the "quiet area." I plugged in my headphones, opened my notes, and started playing some tunes.

"Former" Panthers defensive end? Isn't he still on their roster?
