A couple of things make it not totally stupid. Small size and low weight for its power, as you mentioned. That’s actually kind of a big deal for a hybrid. Also, many of the issues inherent in rotaries are reduced when you only need them to spin at a fixed rpm while attached to a generator.

Oh man, hagfish are some prolific slime producers. IIRC Mike Rowe did an episode of dirty jobs in a hagfish processing plant. The workers would just twirl their gloved forearm in a vat of the critters and get the slime to carry a whole bunch of them out onto the line.

Everyone always complains how ugly these things are; am I the only person who thinks they are kind of cool-looking? There are some not far from my house, and I think they are awesome.
