@Algerad: You'll care when they raise prices because Apple wants to take a slice of the pie for doing pretty much nothing of any added value.

@Number23: You can also remap the volume buttons as back and menu if you dont mind losing hardware volume keys.

@cinnamonster: Yeah this pretty much just for testing purposes and will probably be sluggish running off the sdcard. It's built off the SDK, google hasn't even released the full source yet. That being said, this is a good sign that a full port for the nook color should be possible at some point in the near future.

@crimsoneye: Yeah, the creator should have considered perhaps using different colors like blue and red instead of dark red and really dark red. This heat map just looks like a used tampon.

I doubt its going to be anything but stock honeycomb. Android 3.0 is barely finished, actually it seems like it's not totally there yet or they would have allowed people to actually use these at CES not just watch videos of the interface. Moto wont have time to port blur onto it within the next month for late Feb

@MACaroni: It's not froyo, thats a maintenance release that started going out in the last couple weeks.

So its the Vibrant with a HSPA+ radio and a front facing camera. It can run froyo, but the Vibrant's froyo is still in the works. Is this accurate Samsung?

I imagine many states in the US will ban this as a can seems to imply only one serving.

I'm glad Giz is posting an article on this. Even though there is little hard evidence to backup the xda post, it is rather clear that Samsung is fully responsible for the fact that no US galaxy s devices officially have froyo. Samsung promised froyo for these devices months ago and its quite clear they have no

@Robotronic: Just say something about god shining his light on Sarah Palin or some nonsense like that. Greenland, Alaska, eh same thing.

Verizon offers 1 year contracts, AT&T does not. Typically a 1 year contract increases the upfront hardware price by $75, but you will be eligible for an upgrade in only 10 months. I always prefer less commitment to any of these companies.

I was a bit disappointed we didn't really see any next-gen hardware from HTC, just rehashed hardware for vzw LTE. Moto seems to have a head start with tegra 2 and their phones will be running on ddr2 ram (pc ram). Too bad they will most likely be locked down and blurred up.

@SKiTz: Yeah, I feel like the thunderbolt may have gotten pushed back to give the iphone a month or 2 as the only new verizon smartphone.

@jupiterfish: They changed the early upgrade policy on 2 year contracts, you now have to wait 20 months to use an upgrade on a 2 year contract. 1 year contracts are still available which allow you an upgrade after 10 months.

The one year contract is a fair point. This is another thing Verizon has over AT&T. If you always want the latest and greatest, you can shell out an extra $75 upfront on the price of the phone and be eligible for an upgrade in 10 months. I assume it will still be a $75 premium for the shorter commitment as it is

@EBone: The end of exclusivity means Apple can work out deals with other carriers. There has been plenty of evidence to suggest Apple is working with Verizon (who happens to be the largest US carrier) on an iphone release. Sprint and T-mobile may be in the pipeline, but just because exclusivity with AT&T is up

@metronome49: I'd guess there are gonna be both. Most tech oriented people will be smart enough to wait til june, but plenty of people are still buying iphones at all times of year. For most people, if your contract is up or you're eligible for an upgrade, you're gonna get a new phone.

@tylerstyle: I think because this will be the first Android 3.0 device, it will be vanilla honeycomb. The OS is barely finished and Google and Moto seem to be working closely together to get it out. I doubt Moto will have a chance to muck it up with blur or some crappy skin.

Even at this price it makes no sense to buy this. Either wait for the much more powerful tegra2 honeycomb tablets that will be announced at CES, or pickup a Nook Color for half the price with no contract.

I've always found Back to the Future's time travel rules laughable. They go with the route that you can alter time or create new "branches," but selectively decide what can be changed. We always see pictures Marty has on him changing, but the writers ignore the fact that if those changed, Marty himself would change
