While I can’t give any bearing on whether the price is right, I just want to throw in my 2 cents that this is “dope AF”. If I had expendable income this is exactly the kin of thing I’d buy.

JFC take a break from being a twat for a couple hours
I am currently sitting about 1 mile away from the actual Florida Everglades, and I can 100% tell you with certainty that this truck would not make it more than 3 feet into the Everglades.
“chin chia”
“so he stole one 38-year old Bradford Weitzel, of Port St. Lucie”
Exactly, you want to quit Amazon, you need to quit the internet, and basically all things attached to it. Good luck with that!
Seems to be stirring up the socialists.
A whole train? No thanks. An old-school Pullman car attached to the back of the Amtrak Empire Builder? Sure!
Careful, you are likely to get put into the greys, like I did, with comments like that.
Yeah, I’m not getting the whole ‘based on Black Pearl’ thing comes from. The hull shape, at least above the waterline, doesn’t seem similar. And the superstructure is far closer to a classic yacht like Sea Cloud (or rather, closer to classically-styled boats like Eos or Athena) than the more modern Perini Navi-esqe…
The new recruits here lately have been confusing stunning engineering with the rich people who own them, and that their job should be to cover the vehicle first. Almost everyone who reads Jalopnik already thinks Bezos is a scumbag, piling on is just annoying. Spanfeller’s plan for G/O seems to be to turn it into a…
I gave up this site after years because the writing has gone so far downhill. Check it out again for the first time in weeks, and I’m treated to an article so meanspirited, so devoid of actual information on shipbuilding or yachts, and just dogging a guy with the laziest of personal attacks, that you got me…
...because it’s obviously cheaper and easier to just remove a part of a bridge than it is to do what you’re describing. If it was cheaper to do it your way, they would just do that. Clearly, it is not.
The city where the shipyard is located decided they like tax revenue and local employment more than they like not temporarily dismantling part of a bridge. That’s the entire story. But, rich people are evil, so everything they touch is tainted.
Say what you want about Bezos - the guy doesn’t deserve any sympathy. But that is a gorgeous looking vessel.
So I guess you are the one that decides none of the blue collar workers / trades people making boats, expensive cars, planes should have jobs anymore because you think no one should be able to afford these things? Nice of you. Would love to hear your economic plan.
It can only sail at 30 knots, which would barely be speeding in a school zone.
Watch out - this kind of comment gets you all sorts of shit on, in a Bezos thread.*
I mean you can make fun of the guy for having a “toy” like this but you know what? This project has employed hundreds of people in the hard hit marine sector and will continue to employee lots of people for the substantial on-going maintenance that will be required. Captains, engineers, all the other crew, the ports…
