OWS was a whole different ball of wax. I went down there on my day off one day and whooo wheee it was something else. The stench alone was eye-watering. The amount of mentally unstable wandering around was actually kinda scary to have in such a small area. Also, I’d say 98% of all the “protesters” had no idea why they

You are correct on that! I’d say 8/10 times it was on the go-home run on my Friday.

The Conductor (and the Engineer) would have to take a piss test and fill out some forms, write a statement etc., but they more than likely are getting a week off at full pay. The only reason to feel bad for them is if it was already on their “Friday” and only get 3 days off or if it was their last run of the day and

It depends. I worked with a lot of Engineers that didn’t feel bad at all. Now usually they had a ton of years on the railroad and had dozens of incidents of people doing dumb shit on the tracks.

Welp, I guess that’s the end of this place. I was enjoying watching it burn, but I guess we’re down to embers now. I kinda feel bad for all the new hires.

Testing to see if I’m in the grays or not...

The Netherlands? I’d be curious as to how they are a tax haven for anything. The Dutch are a pretty strict crew.

Why do you always assume a misinformed article is kosher because it has a tertiary relationship to cars? Honestly, I don’t get it.

I don’t want to argue here, but that’s not what you said above. You basically inferred that posting the story Hodge wrote was possibly going to be somehow beneficial. On Jalopnik.

I was being genuine in asking, as one of the former Root writers wrote a lengthy Twitter thread the other day on why he quit, saying that the ship is sinking (although he was glad for his experience there).

Why? It was a genuine question.

Loosely translated? A speck of a reason to cross-platform for clicks.

Is the Root shutting down?

For shipping? I don’t know about that.

It is a strong word, but consider what happens not only to border crossing trade, but also effectively shut down the primary Great Lakes shipping channel. Pretty hard to work around the Detroit River.

If some group (for whatever reason) wanted to cripple the US economy, all they’d have to do is disable the Ambassador and Harlem River bridges. Work from home/Zoom has made the HR bridge slightly less important, but it still would put us in shambles. It wouldn’t even be that hard to do. I’ve been saying this for

1st: No one should be surprised. This is the same guy that blew up that volcano near Tonga so he could set up a Starlink terminal in Fiji and swoop in to “save the day.”

Fair enough. I looked again at the pic. He’s got a power-trio going on. Two separated ‘stashes and then the chin chia. I won’t go that far. That’s a whole other level of look. ha.

I grow one from time to time. Harmless fun to sport one around town and then bust out a word like “irascible” at the 7-11.
