Kawasaki Rail build quality is really bad. Not sure if they still do, but they used to build most of the subway cars for NYC out of Yonkers. They were some real dogshit pieces. Failures were almost impossible to keep up with.

For sure. I’ve been on the Merritt. I tried to avoid it b/c Connecticut kind of freaks me out in general, lol. I just don’t like the vibe around those parts.
I used to commute on the BRP daily...except any time it rained or snowed (which is often). It’s the most flood-prone road I’ve ever known, constantly shut down if anything more than a sprinkle happens. If it snows anything more than 2", it’s also almost impassable unless you (translated as me) are really adept at…
The more ubiquitous the tech becomes, the more “gen-pop” ( read: the Twitter-verse of the world) will care. It’s been a pattern displayed for forever that it takes a long time to convert the masses to an idea, but once it gains acceptance, tribes will form.
2nd: It’s sure gonna be interesting how the battery supplier wars turn out. I get the whole idea of the supply-chain issues and sourcing materials. My curiosity is if it turns out that one them ends up being the “Cadillac” or “iPhone” of batteries. With such an expensive product as a car is, will people settle for the…
“The Wall Street Journal is a newspaper that fundamentally loves successful business. These stories are not bad, necessarily, even though they celebrate capitalism”
Everything you say is 100% accurate, but it still doesn’t refute my point. It may not be the type of business practice anyone likes to see, but it’s all disclosed before purchase. If someone thinks they are gonna get a $39 flight somewhere and are outraged when at checkout there is another digit floating in that…
4th: Orlove, I’m not sure how you think booking a flight is some secret process where the “boogie man” jumps out of nowhere and steals your money. Sure there are extra charges for extra stuff, but that’s been around since the beginning of time. It’s just that somethings cost more than others and in order to streamline…
Except that Apple is now just a blip on the radar when it comes to phone sales now. Samsung is far beyond it in sheer numbers.
Yeah, it doesn’t really matter whether they are called Engineer, Driver, or Motorman (NYC subways), but one thing they are not are Conductors. All major freight and Passenger rail in the US refer to the driver as the Engineer, though. Conductors are primarily only in control of the movement of the train if it’s not…
I had more than a few close calls. I never hit a car or a person (thankfully), but almost all of my friends/co-workers have. One of my Engineers killed over a dozen deer in one swipe once. Came around a curve and picked off a whole herd. Didn’t even damage the air hoses, but that engine had all sorts of blood/brains…
The FRA has specific regulations on sounding a horn through a crossing. At various distances on approach the proper protocol is to sound “ Long, long, short, long.” with the last one sounding until the entire leading end has crossed. That’s why it was/always do let it rip as they go through any crossing.
The Conductor more than likely had no idea as they wouldn’t normally be in the engine. The Engineer, on the other hand, was for sure in there.
It’s all junk now. Fenty changed the game. I do appreciate you letting me know the vernacular in your neck of the woods.
A little more? Ha. You and I both know good and damn well that it was gonna get spiced up. Not one respectable dealer in the world sells pure anymore. Particularly as it’s South American junk.
1st: Might just be a co-inky-dink, but Ford just promoted 290 UAW workers to full-time. This is ahead of the scheduled agreement. Is this an attaboy back scratch?
It’s a rabbit hole of vids, lol. They usually show the races on like ESPN Ocho at like midnight most of the time. Still kicking myself for not going to Bermuda a few years back for the AC races. Oh well.
As far as I know they are all still using hand-winch systems. It’s possible that some boats have found a way to design a foot pedal system, but I’ve yet to see it. I’ve been keeping a loose watch on the Spain GP series. These boats are amazing. Also, watch at the 6:40 mark to see a crazy capsize.
Oh, it will be. The Government did a good job of protecting most big businesses by selling their souls for liability protections into legislation, but as usual, they didn’t protect their own ass.
Something else occurred to me as I was thinking a bit more about this deadline:
