I'm pretty sure you're mistaken on that fact. Can you reference these Roman historians and whether they were contemporary? If you're referring to Josephus, he was most definitely NOT contemporary and the authenticity of some of his passages are questioned.

I think it's probable that he existed, but to pretend it's "fact" is to delude yourself. There really isn't as much in the way of evidence that he existed that you probably think there is.

I don't know why they're starting with a piper fuselage. It would be simpler to start from scratch than try to make the piper fuselage match a viper cockpit which is a VERY different layout.
