Podcasts and e-books work well to keep you from focusing on the frustration of traffic, as your mind is processing complete sentences. It also works well in avoiding drowsiness while driving.

Maybe it’s just me, but I think that, regardless of whether or not your attacker is armed, the thing you must get over, is fear. Fear gets your heart pumping hard and fast and your mind starts to race with all sorts of thoughts. It is so hard to get over fear when a threat is in front of you, unless you train for it.
