GAWKER DENIES ACCT DELETION. WONDER WHY????

Artists “steal” from each other constantly. The most obvious example is sampling. If what upsets you is that the benefits of that “theft” don’t accrue to a worker and instead to an owner, welcome to capitalism.

Probably, but I just can’t get worked up that they didn’t pay human artists to imitate an AI. YMMV.

Some guy who clicks his mouse 12 times in Adobe thinks generative AI is a dangrous technology sucking the soul out of human art.

I agree that AI shouldn’t be used to emulate the styles of existing artists or to avoid paying human artists for designs, but I don’t see this use as problematic. They’re using an AI generator here because the characteristic fucked-up way that it tends to render human subjects is artistically appropriate to the themes

Isn't this what we wanted Facebook to do all along? I'd rather have people get directed to fluffy feel good stories than stuff that pisses them off and contributes to the polarization in our politics. Of course it's still not good that Facebook controls so much of what people see, but this seems like it's at least

Since February eh?

Its not the FB algorithm its spring, and the 1st real post pandemic outdoor season. I see it happen on my sites, in my gaming communities, my Discord communities, in Twitch stats for categories I follow. It happens pretty much every year, just this one is a bit more pronounced pretty much all over.

A

The past 2 years from News sites: “Facebook is partially publishing our articles unfairly!!! We deserve compensation!!! Pay us to use our news feeds, Facebook!!!!”

Facebook now: “Yo! We understand you want us to either pay YOU to promote your articles and sites, OR we can just not do that and deprioritize your links

It’s a troubling change in an increasingly frail digital news business, where companies have little choice but to rely on social media’s biggest gatekeeper.

No kidding. Do you know who thought trenchcoats were cool when I was growing up? Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold.  No one else after that, for good reason.

Ah is it that time of the month? When we have the periodic “the ‘internet’ are thirsty for <vaguely inappropriate character X>“. The herb era of these sites is producing some seriously sex starved writers! We all have our fetishes but yeesh guys. Suppose it's better than Ganondorf?

And here, when I saw that character in the concept art, I couldn’t help but roll my eyes at how dumb it looked. Unless you’re a turn-of-the-century high schooler, trenchcoats do NOT make things look cooler.

Seriously, get therapy.

Well, they will continue to let 3rd parties access the API and do exactly what they had been doing - just for a much higher price. They are shooting themselves in the foot, just as Twitter has done, not realizing or caring how many of their users prefer using a third-party app.

Well look at that, an indirect question about insulting someone directly, not much better than sarcasm. and I wouldn’t mind because I’m neither.

Sarcasm: sad person that wants to be against you but have no actual arguments

I just hate that people needs to be represented on a game or anywhere, that takes so much out of what a writer o creator can and could do. We know a lot of this decision are market research and what’s “in” now.

Let’s also not forget that while that was the grossest claim, it was also the least substantiated. Nobody who knows him corroborated the story, not did anyone pursue legal action

Yeah, this report reeks of BS.

I am not a psychologist, but three days worth of data seems like a ridiculously short dataset to base any assumption off of. I do not doubt that there may be some social drawbacks to increased AI usage in the workplace, but I’m skeptical that such issues could be confidently identified after only three days of study. P
