Burgess probably hasn’t commented on it because he knows it’s a fucking dumb “controversy”.

  1. Wealthy teenage debutante goes to debutante ball with racist history (in Missouri).

Are we really still doing this? Just leave her alone and focus on the people that actually hate us.

Have you seen the film? I didn’t get much of a Joker vibe from it. The tone, the aesthetic, the mood - it was all very different from Joker. Much closer to Gotham or Burton. So maybe Joker was an impetus for getting the movie greenlit, but the movie we got doesn’t have that much in common with Joker.

It’s io9. Judging movies without seeing them is what we do here.

Raya and the Last Dragon. Zootopia. Wreck-It-Ralph. Bolt. Home on the Range. Brother Bear. Lilo & Stitch. The Emperor’s New Groove. Dinosaur.

Yup. People keep judging the novie yhey think it is rather than the movie it actually is.

i literally laughed out loud yesterday when i read the announcement because i knew it’d make them more mad.

Place your bets now on just who (or what) the “villain” of the sequel will be.

Cuella is way more more creative then shit like Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and The Lion King, which just copy-pastes the original animated classic with a few token changes.

Good. And I hope who ever was mad at the first one, can explode with this second one. The amount of vitriol this movie got is insane.

Sir, this is a Mark Wahlberg movie.

So that plane is flying at like 30 mph? There's a difference between ludicrous action and just dumb.

CBS could potentially make more money if this drives new subscribers to Paramount+ and they stick around for awhile than they might with a second tier action film in a still soft box office. They can’t wait to release it theatrically, because the bookings are too crowded with bigger and probably better films when more

No real physics were used in the making of this movie (I kid. I kid. Sort of)

why is this giving me Assassin’s Creed vibes? people reliving their ancestor’s memories to gain their knowledge and skills?

Yeah that was just some snark, he’s got a really distinct look to all his movies, but I don’t think it’s a shared universe at all.

I’ve been thinking about him a lot lately after seeing some big directors who seem to have grown up only watching Spielberg and Lucas. I think the guy has interesting ideas and a good eye for scifi action. When the guy couldn’t get work, he started making short films and I respect that.

For me personally he was always rather overrated. That’s not intended to be an insult - you can still be a good director and still be overrated. When I finally watched District 9 about a year after it came out it was...ok...but it didn’t blow my mind the way it seemed to with many. It’s the audiences that are to blame

Will this movie make sense if I haven’t seen all the other Chappieverse films?
