The floppy vag subplot, Johnny Fontane’s vocal polyps and sex life, the constant oddly specific descriptions of Carlos’ beautiful face, it’s a weird book!

It’s a science fiction classic, but it’s also a pulpy, silly love letter to Heinlein’s weird brand of fascism.
So we’ll put you down as “somewhat satisfied,” okay?
Lol, good try, bub.
Of course. And I am aware of how many hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of people that were killed as a result of the war we launched, the trillion dollars (and counting!) that the war cost us, and the destabilization of the region that resulted from our invasion.
Of course the Civil War was about slavery. And WWII was not about the Holocaust. These are not debatable by reasonable people.
Yes, obviously. That’s my point. Iraq at the height of its power was a regional power that was capable of waging a stalemate war against Iran. It invaded Kuwait, was quickly expelled, and was crippled by sanctions. Iraq under Hussein had no ability to project force outside its own borders, much less its own region.
As an ex post facto justification, sure! This does not advance your original premise that Saddam’s actions “pretty much much make him Hitler.”
I think you need to be more clear here, because your question is really fuzzy.
Ah, you think that pointing out that Nixon’s utter lack of experience is a de facto endorsement of Cuomo. That is a mistake.
Aw, don’t get salty because you missed the sarcasm that other folks got. No hard feelings.
Wait, what? I don’t understand what you’re asking.
You apparently believe that I am advocating voting for “experience” in a vacuum, either disregarding or downplaying ideology. That’s not what I’m saying.
Not a puppet. You’re a puppet.
It’s not a question of moral equivalence. Hitler wasn’t “Hitler” just because he was evil, or even because he engaged in genocide. Thousands of people have been at least as evil as Hitler on an individual level. He was Capital “H” Hitler because he was running one of the most powerful nations on earth and had the…
Oh, if that’s your metric, then there have been numerous “Hitlers” in the last century. Not a terribly useful metric.
I am wary of those who want to run government as a business, but as a broad principle she could at least argue that experience as an executive managing a large organization was helpful in offsetting a lack of specific experience in government.
“Artificial standard?” Huh? A person’s actual ability to perform the job for which they are seeking (as opposed to their simply meeting the basic legal requirements) isn’t an artificial standard, it’s half the battle!
Only Godzilla can fight Mothra. Then we use Mechagodzilla to clean up the mess. Failing that, CHUDs.
Perhaps someone should be investigating that question...
