Hey Anay, I’ve not been reading for Kotaku for a long while as I’m no longer a games journalist, but a writer for games themselves now. I checked it today by chance and saw your reply which seems important enough that I should reply, even if I’m over a month late.

Had no idea, still makes it incredibly cool that Bruce, Boon, and the Funhaus gang worked with Twitch in doing this. Its clear a lot of work went into this.

Nobody can ever tell me streaming isn’t a real job when you’ve got streamers like Bruce assembling stream setups like this for just ONE STREAM

Every day this year, I’ve come to understand Nintendo’s decision to stay out of the competitive scene more and more.

I think the most insane aspect of this is that they keep trying to argue they dont condone players playing at the LAN center, but THEY HOST THE TOURNAMENT.

I just built my pc with the literal exact same specs as that c700+, and it cost me $1,600 (not including my case which I’ve reused for a decade). Where the hell are they getting the other 1500 from?

The fact that a third of the video is just him spending hours trying to figure out how to organize the cables of the liquid cooler’s radiator is disturbingly relatable.

But then they’d have to do that to nearly every other American operator

This entire situation is absolutely insane and painful, and also incredibly unsurprising. I quit playing smash bros on a local competitive level years ago myself for similar issues. My first experience with the smash bros community at a small local event involved some weirdo repeatedly trying to show my friend and I,

Its absolutely insane how half-baked DC universe feels. As an app, it works phenomenally. As a service, everything is there except the content. I get that licensing makes things difficult, but can you imagine how INSANELY GOOD DC universe would be if they actually had every bit of DC media on it? I still cannot

He doesn’t post anything because he’s the features editor, not a reporter

So here’s a guy who critiqued the game’s empty world that was willing to give what is arguably an irredeemably bad experience a second try, and you’re mad that he still didn’t like this? Honestly, judging by how many critics (and colleagues back when I was still a reporter) said they would rather pound sand than play

Literally everything about the first statement is false, we all know its because of the cut taken from sales and literally nothing else. Thanks for calling that out Luke

Dude, Jobst’s video is literally the centerpiece of the article. There’s nothing stopping people from watching it especially since there’s plenty in the video not fully discussed in the article. News sites don’t thrive on clicks, they survive on it (even Kotaku). Its a gaming site, not the front page of the New York

He said nothing about Unity being shit, and I’m not really sure where you’re getting that from? He said it used basic unity assets, as in the objects that come bundled with the engine for testing purposes, meaning that it includes meshes the developers themselves did not make. He never said Unity was shit, just that

This is a horrible time for a kickstarter. I promise a sequel to Gloomhaven could have pulled 8 million dollars on its first day if it weren’t in the middle of a pandemic where more than two thirds of the country just lost all their income. I’d invest in that kickstarter right now if I actually had an income, but I

Quick note for anyone who wants to pull the “e-thots are ruining twitch” nonsense: Bodypainting, as mentioned in the article, is its own category on Twitch. This means that if you want to watch this content, you have to specifically look for it. Streamers like Forkgirl are not using their bodies to pull viewership

It should also be noted that you have to buy the game through xsolla, a company that is so bad, it was banned at my bank and marked as a fraudulent company. They have the worst security on Earth and are known to illegally charge people numerous times for no reason.

I mean, what do you expect from the guy whose fashion sense makes him look like an anemic Hayden Christensen got a job at Hot Topic instead of acting in Star Wars?
