No one screams “white middle class American woman” more than George W. Bush.

Except in cases where you’re required to by an HOA, care about your property values, or care about your relationship with your neighbors.
Its a very slippery slope when art can be criticized not for its intent, but for what feelings and opinions it elicits from its audience. And this doesn’t just apply to static sculpture, this applies to all forms of art; music, film, etc.
If “I’m offended” is now the standard to have art removed from public, God help…
A lot of orchestras hold “blind auditions”: hopefuls play behind a screen, with the process arranged so that no hint of their gender presentation or race reaches the panel. These orchestras suddenly found themselves hiring people other than white men - even though they’d honestly believed they hired on merit alone.
Because Warhol is like a friend who serves you a bowl of Campbell’s soup at his house and tells you that’s exactly what it is, while Koons is like an expensive restaurant that serves you a bowl of Campbell’s soup in a fancy, modernist dish and pretends it’s the chef’s own recipe?
But then why not tell the truth in the first place? I mean, if he said “this is based on a porcelain work by a well-known artist” I don’t think people would have a problem; making it sound like he found it buried in the wreckage of an abandoned factory gives himself too much credit.
Holy shit, I normally like what you write, but this entire comment is so ignorant of the context of Warhol/Lichtenstein that it almost reads as parody
Part of what confuses me so much is that I don’t recognize myself in so many of the characterizations of the generation. I’ve been working since I was 16, at least part time, sometimes multiple jobs. My husband who is also a millennial has been working since he was 14. All of our friends (even the younger ones) seem…
Question: is it possible millennial women are also more sensitive to the accusations about how lazy and entitled we supposedly are? Or is it just me? I’m an old millennial, so I think I’m not entirely the group intended in these millennial studies (I’m 35. Most stuff about millenials seems to be all about how terrible…
There will be special little huts out back?
To be honest, there’s something appealing about a menstruation hut, assuming it includes wine and cake. Leave me the fuck alone while I eat this wine and cake and chill with a book. Think I might just have to menstruate for 52 weeks a year.
Show of hands: who now wants to see a picture of this agent?
Side note- why is it men’s hats come in sizes, while women’s hats NEVER do?
If you’re odd-looking, you’re screwed?
I genuinely loved my American Girl Dolls and they got me interested in American History when nothing else would.
Any time you’re asked an annoying personal question, this is always the response: “Why do you ask?” Because what they’re really asking is “Why are you doing something different from what I’ve done and therefore making me question my own decision?”
Yeah, all these folks talking about buying them just to “corral” their boobs are confusing the shit out of me. If I’m hanging out around the house and I don’t want to wear a bra, I just don’t wear a bra. A bralette would be more uncomfortable, not less. But my boobs are still pretty pert, so maybe it’s a solution for…
That said, MAN if you overdo it on the edibles it is a SUPER unpleasant time.
Kirsten Dunst stars as Theresa, a haunted young woman spiraling in the wake of profound loss, torn between her fractured emotional state and the reality-altering effects of a potent cannabinoid drug. Immersive, spellbinding, and sublime, Woodshock transcends genre to become a singularly thrilling cinematic…
Because despite your first statement,
