As an elementary and middle school aged child, I also went to a very good public school (gifted and talented) that was also very diverse; in fact the diversity was the result of a very well done integration program in the 70's. I too count myself very lucky that at the impressionable ages, I was meeting all types; and

(Responding to your blood sugar comment) I genuinely know how that feels and there’s no problem from me. No hard feelings/ we’re cool!

WTH? I was speaking about your comment, written about 20-somethings in general, I assumed, not about some specific person whom only you (of the two of us) have encountered. I make no judgement and have no opinion on whoever the “her” is in your comment.

100% agree. See the poster you originally replied to for a great example of this.

Some folks who are no longer in their 20s still need this reminder.

It’s a lot of “if I do x, y, and z, and I don’t do a, b, and c, then I am safe and nothing like what that girl clearly brought on herself will ever happen to me or my daughers”

This is my opinion 100% - that this will encourage (unfortunately it had to be done with the stick) employers to keep employees around as long as they can, eventually meaning benefits and raises. Instead of the intern driven system at play in today’s world. Where no one develops expertise and those who do, are fired

I had the same reaction when I tried Seasonale. Hard to get the doctors to understand, “No, I’m still bleeding. Still bleeding. Yes, still bleeding.” Finally got some pill that stopped it and immediately scheduled an IUD appt.

Key Lime pie is excellent but dairy-free anything is the devil, so you’re on safe ground here. I also hate dairy-free “creamer” AKA JUST SOME WHITE POWDER

I used to live in NC but now I live in Colorado and for the first six months I constantly filled out forms with Denver, NC as my address. Only funny to me and those who knew it was a real place :-)

#1 reason I did not join the swim team in high school is practice started at 5:30 AM and my mom was not getting up to take me to that.

Agreed, I always had a soft spot for Hecht’s

Oh, fun! :-)

Off topic, is your name a Charade reference?

When listening to the crazy spew about chemicals and toxins, it’s been helpful for me to remember alcohol is a solution. Chemically speaking.

That is excellent! I have a friend whose cat is named Casual, he just ignores it because he’s a cat, but it’s a fun name.

Nice! I’ll have to try that. I’m used to eggs and cheese with grits, but Colorado doesn’t really have grits, so we’re experimenting.

Ah! That’s fantastic! I ended up studying that kind of thing and my career is in a related field, so it’s very satisfying to my inner 12-year old.

I loved those too! I so wanted “violet eyes” and the obsession became pronounced when I watched National Velvet with Elizabeth Taylor. I also liked the Circle of Magic books (also by Tamora Pierce) - really identified with the yarn magic/string magic girl Sandry.
