My issue isn’t the amount of new characters, but just the amount of characters, which is the least since... 1. Why didn’t THIS game go the MKX route? It’s an alternate timeline now. We’ve got an amazing cast from 2, 3 and 4.

Technically, this style is far easier to animate than the post-GT aesthetic, as there is less shading and simpler geometry on the characters. I’m sure they’ll stick to this. Radical art direction changes just for a film aren’t that common.
