I found her contact info through the state bar and called. I spoke briefly with the attorney. Someone (either an individual or group) has set up an account for to help pay for her bond, but she didn’t have the info on her. You’re welcome to send a check made out to the law firm and she will pass it along

She should be given the healthcare that she needs because she’s a fuckin person.

No. Unless she is a danger to herself or others, the law clearly states that medical personnel CANNOT disclose her information to law enforcement. If you read the original article, you’d see the charges stem from her having a false social security card that was found on her person AFTER she was arrested.

I do billing. I have zero patient contact. I'm still bound by HIPAA and am considered a healthcare professional.

HIPAA applies to anyone who handles a patient’s private health information, that’s everyone from the receptionist to the administrative staff as well as clinicians.

Um no. The staff at the clinic are “healthcare providers” under HIPAA even if they don’t provide actual healthcare.

Occasionally people are indignant about a non-citizen being provided medical care. Given that flu, tuberculosis, plague, hepatitis and who knows what are actual threats to all humans, it should make sense to citizens that people who work in our restaurants, pick our food, clean our houses and otherwise work and live

Hipaa compliant means any staff with access to patient information is the provider’s responsibility. There’s fines and sanctions for both doctors and staff.

All the staff are bound by HIPAA though, from the front desk to filing clerks and everyone in between. Whoever ratted this poor woman out is going to be the subject of what I can only hope is a MASSIVE lawsuit.

But she didn’t have any of those things- medicaid, etc. So there was no insurance fraud.

Wow, whoever ratted on her is an absolute shithead. How jaded do you have to be as a healthcare provider to do this to someone who comes to you for services?

I mean really, how can you not like this guy? I get it the cowboys are fucking asshats, but god damn is he talented and passionate.

I think they had timeouts.

With Shalise Manza Young leaving the Boston Globe, I wonder if Mike could find his way back there. Although it’d probably be a step back in salary and exposure, I doubt they’d emasculate him like ESPN seems to have a habit of doing.

Listen just because we’re horrible doesn’t ALSO mean we’re not the victim of a vast ESPN/NFL conspiracy.

Accessing alcohol isn’t a federal law, nor is it a basic right, so while I’m definitely rolling my eyes at her, and anyone who imposes their arbitrary religious beliefs on those around them, I definitely don’t think she should have been fired. Otherwise, entire counties around the country should have their local

I think the difference between her and Davis is that Davis was denying individuals a legal right to get married, which is federally legal and required due to her title. Alcohol isn’t a federal right in this country. There are dry counties everywhere because the local government considers it to be against their

If this woman is being a asshole, I’m afraid of what you consider normal.

No one is forced to be catholic. I am not, and I think he’s great. He is slowly forcing those below him to wake up to reality. It hasn’t quite trickled down yet, but he is continuing to move forward anyway. He’s focusing on the forgiveness rather than the sin, which if you *do* buy into the idea of sin, is probably a
