I’ve Towed cars for 20 years and have NEVER removed a steering linkage. Most new steering columns (just about everything with a push button start) don’t lock anymore (I’ll admit that I’m not sure about a rolls) turning your wheels will not stop your car from being towed, we have dolly wheels for that.
