Agreed, but reading Luna’s full quote doesn’t have me worried. Much of Andor’s praise focused on how it felt of Star Wars but not beholden to it. So in this case, I don’t think it’s we listened to the fans and there are more lightsabers. I think he’s implying they leaned into telling a more nuanced story because those

I don’t want to yuk anyone’s yum! I loved MMPR when I was a kid but watching 50-year-olds try to recapture the magic just doesn’t move me.

If he’d just let this movie rollout like normal he could probably let the bad press roll off his gigantic shoulders.

Idk... I should be in the target audience for this kind of nostalgia but it doesn’t excite me so much as it serves as a reminder that time comes for us all

I do find it a little funny how the fan campaign was seen as preserving this lofty ideal of an auteur’s vision and Affleck rides in here like “Four hours of content, baby!!”

I thought it was supposed to be a slight (albeit undercooked) nod to the idea that See? Even therapists have problems too!

I didn’t mind it as much upon rewatch, but that episode and the Christmas one feel so glaringly tacked on. I know Apple ordered two extra episodes so it was a scramble to produce them but narratively they grind the season to a halt.

“It’s almost like when you have a pro football team and your quarterback wins championships and your head coach wins championships and then a new owner comes in and says, ‘Not my coach, not my quarterback. I’m going to go with somebody new.’”

Leo DiCaprio’s win is not that far in the rearview. Jaime Lee and Fraser join him in the group of winners whose Oscars immediately make you think of their better movies. Time honored tradition.

Can’t believe I’m going to say this but I thought the show could’ve used maybe 10% more of him. The middle where All Quiet cleaned up on technical dragged a bit and could’ve used more shepherding.

I honestly think Fraser either didn’t think he’d actually win or was so overcome that he was clearly just processing it all in real time

A tad predictable but I’m happy for all the EEAAO love. Jaime Lee and Fraser got their career achievement Oscars, which is nice. I was really hoping to see Best Score go to Babylon. It’s a banger!

I don’t assign much importance to whatever wins Best Picture. Sometimes it’s deserved, a la Parasite. Other times, the winner fades into the background while the more deserving films gain steam.

Yeah, I always thought the Oscar for Return of the King was basically the Academy saying, “You did it, Pete!”

putting someone creative, who loves this universe, in charge of executing it

I’m a big fan of Taika but overexposure is a thing. Shadows, Our Flag Means Death, Free Guy, Thor, Mando... his schtick can start to be a little grating when it’s everywhere

I haven’t seen Andor yet (itself derivative of Rogue One, which was derivative of a ANH), but I heard it was good

Idk who needs to hear this but it’s okay for things to exist separately from one another. Shared universes have warped our brains.

Okay, this looks like it could be good. Casting actual teens in the voice roles is an inspired choice.

There are just no stakes here at all or anything for the audience to care about.
