Unfortunately for the Tesla guys, they seemed not to be the kind to take it to the level of the “rules”. They even admitted the car was capable of more, being relatively stock. So the winner in this event placed with a DQ. I fully expect rules will place it in an EV class of its own in the future since it certainly

Agreed. Look at Jeep, because Ford certainly is.

There may be less buying sedans. But Fusion, Focus, Fiesta, Camry, Corolla, Accord, 3-series, 5-series, C-class, & E-class accounted for 1.66 MILLION sales in 2017. There’s clearly a market for sedans.

In comparison to toyota for example, the Camry and Corrolla each nearly matched the combined lineup of Fiesta+Focus+Fusion. 200,000 isn’t shaby but 4th is a very distant 4th. I believe the question plaguing investors is to where Ford intends to move those ~400,000 sales/yr in their lineup.

Current Market Trend....

There’s a market for sedans but the consumers aren’t buying Fords.  The real question is, why do they think they can compete with their SUVs? If I were an investor, that’s a question I would ask. And it appears investors are asking.

That’s the reality of it unfortunately. Although, classic wagons and classic vans are on the radar. Leaning more classic van than wagon on the wishlist but we’ll likely end up with a minivan or late model full size van.

I would love a wagon.  I need 3rd row seating.  One wagon that I know of fits the criteria but way way out of my budget.

At least in case of the Focus, the rear seat is the barrier in both. I’m not familiar with the space between the hatch and the seat of the hatchback but something coming over the top of that without first exiting the window seems unfeasible. But a sedan variant being more safe than a hatch version doesn’t sound

ha, have a star

I can’t star your article so I’ll comment by saying thanks for the perspective refresh.

4th Gear - really not suprised MINI isn’t going as planned. One, reliability. Two, price. Three, its always been BMW’s plan to up sale it’s offerings over the MINI. The “Awesomeness of Small” has worn off.

I’m partial to the Sagaris 4.o update.

The headlights are deplorable and the integration of the bumper and splitter makes me as nauseous as the fugly green. Smooth the bumpers even dummy. Looks like a Robert Jackson creation... did he get out of jail?

Because the Mustang is absolutely impractical for your needs. I did the same thing with a MINI. Putting a car seat in the back of passenger side had the passenger pushed all the way forward with the seat back uncomfortably arranged. As much as I liked that car and no car payment, its use was limited. Sold it, got a
