I was under the impression that many turbine blades were monocrystaline, which would make sintering pretty difficult.

As others have mentioned, it's not just the product, but also the vision. Both GoPro and Contour not only make the cameras, but they also heavily promote them, providing sponsorship of not only sports, but also scientific research.

Buy a Lockitron? Those aren't even available yet. Maybe get one of the Schlage LiNK or Kwikset Smartcode locks (and associated Zwave to Internet bridges).

Is it really a deterrence, or just a reminder not to flush everything down the sink, but instead collect it and dump it elsewhere? Isn't this what many meth labs do anyway?

This is why various agencies like to keep their terrorist-prevention attempts secret. Now the terrorists just need to flush small amounts of explosives down many different toilets to hide where things are going on.

How is the dual pixel phase detect going to deal with a lens where the tuning isn't so hot. Specifically, the Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 has been reviewed as having poor autofocus even when set up on their own home USB calibrator.

OTG is supposed to provide power, but not much. If you have something like a Nexus 4, it doesn't support OTG out of the box, but some ROMs do if you provide power- such as a powered hub, I believe. But that's a design fault, not a problem with OTG.

But I want USB OTG to do more! :)

Proximity sensors on phones are relatively small. I wonder if they are accurate enough to allow good positioning of the head above a surface. It may be limited to a surface with some maximum curvature, but still if it could compensate for a tilted build surface, that's a good start. Heck, for even some slightly curved

Yeah, keyboard, mouse, flash drive. What else can you do with USB OTG on an Android phone? Admittedly, sometimes a keyboard is nice, and the flash drive is the whole reason for this product, but you don't really need a mouse for a touchscreen phone. I don't know, is there kernel support for game controllers? How about

Yeah, there's the issue of needing to hold one end of the zipper down while you're pulling it, but if they could make a similar two-way zipper, then there are some possibilities.

The center section looks like it's just a USBOTG adaptor. So you can ditch the flash drive and plug other things into your phone or tablet too- keyboard, mouse, and um... hub with more flash drives.

I'm only counting five useful axes of motion. Okay, six if you count the thread feed.

Depends on what disaster you call "the big one." Luckily at work we have bike lockers outdoors. I figure if there is a fire or earthquake that prevents access to the building or parking structure, I still have my bike. And if there's a more widespread disaster, anything that allows you to get through or around traffic

There's more to surveillance than just cameras (Which I'm sure many TLA agencies already know). One report that I'm repeating here: London's surveillance cameras have solved one crime per thousand cameras per year.

He's the one plainclothes secret service agent.

And the front facing cameras are a feature- when the sun gets low and causes too much glare, the suspension goes into limp mode (heh) making the ride harsher telling the driver to slow down.
