Can't you just start replacing people's broken iPhones with the next model down? "Sorry, all we have left is the 3G." Though I guess replacing a screen might be easier than supporting an obsolete phone.
At least there are right angle IEC-C13 and HDMI cables (or adaptors http://www.amazon.com/dp/B002LJNKNM) so things aren't sticking straight out.
Why should the side with the ports be called the back? Given that the logo is also on that side, you can argue that it's the front. You've got easy access to the power switch and all the ports.
