What are some other good entries in the genre on air now? I enjoy the niche and though its been poorly served by TV in the past (looking at you, Tudors) it's certainly been getting better.

Very true. But there aren't all that many current, densely plotted political dramas influenced by the history of the British Isles so the comparison comes naturally. A different phrasing: as far as historically influenced political dramas go, Wolf Hall was much more entertaining to me than GoT this year and I think
