Top Gear is good parenting done for you.

They are all terrible, terrible vehicles to drive.
You just don’t crash Roger Penske´s cars like that and get away with it.
Its called a Gol. Just now I realized I wrote 15 lines without mentioning the name of the car once. But as previous commenters have already mentioned, its a Polo with a cheaper body (same structural components on the chassi, but with lower grade steel), simpler interior, simpler eletronics and same mechanical package…
My reluctancy to accept its appearance on this topic is based on the “Sweetest Handling Normal Hatchback” title up top.
“Alonso, throttle map to 5. Engine map to red two”
This is an utter piece of shit. Even for south american standards.
Ok, I have to go and buy me one of these. I almost did in college, but I barely had the money back then. Now I want one with urgency.
My current car’s rear suspension (twist beam, just as in the MKIV Golf) has a bit of a “flexibility” on lateral loading. You feel the rear moving relatively to the rear axle without the wheels actually losing grip.
I’ve always wanted to have a mkI Focus with the Duratec 2l engine and manual gearbox!
Just go and do the math. The diesel still is the best option.
Want a nice manual small truck? Buy an Amarok diesel. Its shifter is nice, precise and tidy as the Golf’s.
I don’t think that LS5 SUV thing looks at all like a Land Rover. It kind of mixes a Jeep with a Mitsubish with flairs of SAAB. I think it looks quite good!
And the L5 (the big sedan), it may look like a Rolls from the side, but who cares. It has its distinct front and rear fascia. I quite like it as well.
Stop bitching about the distance and just go.
My car’s hatch cab only be open by the key fob button or the key itself. No exterior or interior buttons. And why does it suck? Because when you want to leave someone at, let say, the airport, you have to turn off the engine just to open the hatch. It is annoying. So much I’ve seen people cutting holes on the dash and…
This is a Mark III body with a mark IV front fascia. WTF.
If losing a few trims and cars that aren't very popular allows us to keep a manual in the Golf R or a Skoda Octavia RS then I'm all for it. Being successful means making tough choices and the difference now is Volkswagen seems to be making the right tough choices again.
That is of an old version of the current Hilux.
