Wut? I live in fear of the armed “patriots” in my Southern community. Why don’t they understand this?

To me, the last paragraph exemplifies why this is a good idea. It seems like they’re going out of their way to avoid saying “your immigrant ways are wrong” and instead are saying “there are the rules here. even if these rules don’t apply where you are from, they apply in Norway.”
Can someone offer a similar course for certain members of the GOP?
Is it weird that I feel like this is okay? Like, it should be taught as part of language classes and middle school classes and to everyone everywhere.
I love how molesting a bunch of little girls (mainly his sisters, one of whom was only 5) is not as bad as the cheating. Raise your hand if you’d much, much, rather you found out your spouse cheated on you than sexually abused a number of kids? I might be hurt about cheating, but I could see working past it. I would…
I practically have a panic attack every time I get an email that the quarterly lockdown drill is going to be held in the coming week. All I can think is, “Jesus, fuck, I live in a world where lockdown drills happen on a quarterly basis in elementary school. This is so incredibly fucked up.”
There are lots of factors, but personally I think your two-party system is flawed to the core and encourages an “us vs them” mentality that permeates every part of daily life. If your Democratic party was located anywhere else in the world it would be considered very conservative. If the current Republicans were…
(I live in LA and am LAUSD teacher-affiliated) Lots of stay-at-home parents were offering to take classmates home with them this morning and I know of at least two employers who sent mass texts ok’ing everyone to bring kids to work today.
He was awesome in every respect. Funny, poignant, and magnetic. His message was that we, as a nation, have got to get back to the business of working towards prosperity for ALL Americans. He spoke out against sexism, racism, and Islamaphobia. He told many incredible stories about what Hillary has accomplished, both in…
Some thoughts, hopefully relevant. Although I grew up in a very conservative household, my father, who like everyone, has flaws galore, taught my brothers and I in his own way thAt every human being deserved respect and dignity, and this included, especially women. For such a conservative republican voting war veteran…
“Nothing is more important than the safety of our kids.”
It’s easy to say religion as already stated but I think that only is half the problem. The other half? Money. Making it and keeping it.
I was lucky enough to meet Bill Clinton last night, and his remarks nearly made me cry in public. We have gone so far backwards in the last 15 years, in just about every respect. We have been better than this. We can better again.
I saw it in the theater. I'm going for vodka tonight.
Nope, the Woman that they are protecting in that one scene is I believe. He is affected by the aliens due to the Mind Touch that occurred in the first movie. Plus as leader of the US and writer of the greatest speech in World history (the world ID4 took place) he would be the most famous human on the planet. Along…
I’m gonna watch the fuck out of this. #NoShame
Oh Canada, with your progressive government, universal health care, Montreal, good beer, lack of mass shootings, and all that politeness, you seem like a great place to be right now. I wonder what you guys think of America’s fear mongering shitshow politics.
I am seriously researching and contemplating a move to Canada. If there are any American’s that have made the move that could provide insight on the largest differences and hurdles, I’d be interested in hear them.
I think we’ve talked about our seminary connections before - VES! I’ve always heard that Bishop Tutu has family in the area and you can just run into him at the Starbucks without expecting it. I’ve not been so lucky. I would have trouble not running up, hugging him and squeezing his cheeks. (on his face)
I’m actually lucky enough that WAMU IS my local station. And I’m a proud member. They’ve done such a good job over the past several years making it more than just a “national” channel. They’re focusing a great deal on local issues in Maryland, Virginia and the District, especially education, transportation and poverty…
